  • A teleprompter is a device that displays script text on a transparent screen in front of a camera lens, allowing a presenter to read while maintaining direct eye contact with the camera.

    • Teleprompter Kit: Includes the glass and hood.

    • App: Teleprompter software to control scrolling text (e.g., Prompt Plus, CapCut).

    • Write for the Ear: Script for conversational speech rather than writing a report.

    • Maintain Distance: Position yourself at least 6-10 feet from the camera to make eye movement less noticeable.

    • Use Natural Inflection: Avoid a monotone "robotic" voice by practicing with the script to add emotion.

    • Control the Speed: Use a remote or app to adjust the scroll speed to your natural talking pace.

    • Look Away: Occasionally look away from the lens to make it look less like you are reading.

    • Reading with Eyes Only: Instead, read with your face and connect to the words, as if telling a story.

    • Too Close: Being too close to the camera shows visible eye movement.

    • Ignoring Lighting: External light or sunlight can cause glare on the glass, making it hard to see the text.

    • Reflecting in the Lens: If the camera is too far back in the hood, the edges of the prompter might appear in the shot.

    • Displaying Content: Use an app that can handle horizontal/vertical mirroring so the text appears correctly on the glass.
